Announcements for June 16

Happy Father’s Day!

Thank You for Day Camp Support!

Thank you to all who contributed in any way to the success of Grace Lutheran Church’s 2019 Day Camp and to the fun and learning of the 24 area children who attended! The kids heard Bible stories and applied the lessons to today’s world, plus learned lots of new songs and prayed each day. They also planted vegetables in the community garden, spent a day enjoying the farm animals and nature at EWALU Bible Camp, made cards and visited friends at the nursing home, swam at the Tripoli pool, and topped off the week with a potluck supper and program. Thanks especially to Rachel Page, Day Camp coordinator, who stepped up when needed and planned and organized the week’s activities in a very short time. Without Rachel’s leadership, we would not have been able to offer our kids the day camp experience this year. We also want to thank the many helpers and volunteers who donated their time, those families who hosted the counselors in their homes, the people who helped with expenses by giving to the giving tree, those who served as drivers to EWALU and who walked kids back and forth from school to church, as well as to those who prepared food or donated snacks and treats. Thanks also to parents who committed their children to the program, and all the children who committed to learning more about Jesus.  (Check out the photos on the Grace in Tripoli Facebook page to see some of what the kids were up to this past week!)

Call Committee Volunteers/Nominees Needed

Now that Pastor Niezwaag is on board as interim pastor for Grace, the Church Council met with a representative from the NE Iowa Synod regarding calling a permanent pastor for the Grace congregation. According to the Synod’s guidelines, the next step in the process of calling a new pastor is the formation of a committee of Grace members to serve as a “call committee.” Grace Council is looking for 6-8 members to serve on this committee. If you would be interested in serving on this call committee or in nominating someone to serve on the committee, please contact Carol Boldt (830-1935), Rich Rettig (961-1157), or Barb Bush (882-3215) by June 30, 2019. The Council will review the names submitted and according to NE Iowa Synod guidelines, will select members to be presented to the congregation for vote. The Council is looking for a diverse representation of our congregation to serve on the committee and to begin the important work associated with calling a new pastor. Thank you for your serious consideration of serving on this committee.

Float from Grace in Tripoli Days Parade

Would you be interested in having a float representing Grace Lutheran Church in the Tripoli Days parade? If so, we need some volunteers to design and work on it. If you head up or work on this project, please let someone from the council know soon. Tripoli Days are usually the first weekend in August.

Congregations to Travis & Samantha Holm on the birth of their daughter, Lucy Marie Holm. Lucy was born in Waterloo on June 10th. Grandparents are Kevin & Dawn Holm and great-grandparents are Bob & Vince Holm. May God bless parents and child.

Gathering of Men will meet every Monday except holidays at Grace Lutheran from 8:30 to 9:30 pm.
