Grace Sunday School is held from 10:15 am through 11 am during the school year, and all children ages 3 years through 6th grade are encouraged to attend. Parents are welcome to attend with their children, but are not required to do so.
Our Sunday School program is entitled, “Journeying through the Bible,” and in addition to a Bible story and prayer, we use music, crafts, and snacks to bless each other.
Youth (High School)
The Youth Group at Grace focuses on providing area high school students a variety of opportunities for Christian fellowship. There are monthly meetings (usually on the third Sunday of the month) where youth can participate in fun activities like playing goofy golf, attending hockey games, or enjoying a progressive supper.
The group also conducts a variety of fundraising projects throughout the year so members can attend the triennial ELCA Youth Gathering (Houston in 2018, Minneapolis in 2021), nature/adventure trip, and an inner-city mission trip during their high school years.
For more information about our Youth Group activities, please email us at email@example.com.
Confirmation (7th and 8th Graders)
Seventh and eighth-grade students are encouraged to participate in Confirmation education and activities at Grace Lutheran Church. Confirmation is held on Wednesday evenings during the school year, beginning with supper at 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, an informal worship service from 6:30 pm to 7 pm, followed by small group discussion until 7:30 pm or so. Our focus in Confirmation is on Bible-based learning, faith development, worship participation, and Christian fellowship with others.
Upon completion of Grace’s Confirmation requirements, students may confirm their faith through the Affirmation of Baptism.
Men of all ages are welcome to join us for Bible studies, fellowship and/or service to others. Please contact Jim Rathe at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 319-231-5749 for more information about these opportunities:
- Pizza Night is held at 6:30 pm on the last Thursday of each month. We eat, talk, and do a Bible study. A free will offering is taken.
- A Gathering of Men is held every Monday night (except on holidays) at 8:30 pm to develop friendships and serve as a support group for each other through Bible study, Man Talk cards and service projects.
Women of all ages are welcome to participate in the monthly Bible studies based on the ELCA’s Gather magazine and to join in various ways of serving members of our community:
- Lydia Circle usually meets the first Wednesday of the month at 1:30 pm at church; please call Judy Fowlkes at 319-882-3699 for more info.
- Esther Circle usually meets the second Monday of the month at 6:30 pm at church; please call Pauline Frahm at 319-882-3070 to find out more.

Grace has a group of talented individuals who love to quilt.
Whether they are tying pieced mission quilts for our local Hospice, Friends of the Family or Lutheran World Relief, making warm prayer quilts for members who are ill, or completing the fine needlework required for specialty quilts, you can find some quilting activity most Tuesdays and Thursdays in the church fellowship hall. All levels of sewing ability are welcome to participate.
Please call Pauline Frahm at 319-882-3070 for more information.
The Grace Lutheran Bell Choir is a fellowship of dedicated ringers who rehearse Wednesday evenings and enrich Sunday worship with special music on a monthly basis.
The Bell Choir is always looking for substitute ringers to fill in as needed for rehearsals and performances. Basic music reading skills are important, but previous experience in handbell ringing is not necessary.
If you would like to be a part of this fun and vibrant music ministry, please call or text Gail Sexton at 319-231-3269.
The Praise Team leads worship for Grace’s contemporary service and occasionally provides special music at the traditional service. We welcome additional singers/musicians to join this group on a regular or substitute basis.
