Sunday School

Grace Sunday School is held from 9 am to 9:45 am from January through May, and from 10:15 am through 11 am from September through December. All children ages 4 years through 6th grade are encouraged to attend. Parents are welcome to attend with their children, but are not required to do so.

Our Sunday School program is entitled, “Journeying through the Bible,” and in addition to a Bible story and prayer, we use music, crafts, and snacks to bless each other. Grace Sunday School shares a Christmas program with the congregation on the Sunday before Christmas, and usually sings during Sunday services several other times during the school year.

Please contact Sarah Figanbaum at figanbaum.sarah89@gmail.com or contact her through the church office at 319-882-3579 with questions.

Summer Day Camp

Grace offers a day camp for area children in kindergarten through 5th grade each summer. Our 2026 day camp is scheduled to run from Sunday evening, June 21, through Thursday, June 25. This program is conducted in partnership with Ewalu Bible Camp, as college-aged counselors from Camp Ewalu come to Tripoli to lead daily worship, Bible study, music, and crafts.

A highlight of day camp is spending one day on site at Camp Ewalu near Strawberry Point, Iowa. Besides the usual Bible study, skits and music, children enjoy facilities available at Camp Ewalu like hiking, swimming, group games, and other fun-filled activities. The week-long camp concludes with a program at Grace church, where children share what they learned with family and friends.

For more information about Grace’s day camp, please contact Rachel Page, coordinator, at 319-464-2862 or rpageheating@gmail.com.

Youth (High School)

The Youth Group at Grace focuses on providing area high school students a variety of opportunities for Christian fellowship. We have special activities scheduled throughout the year, where youth can participate in a variety of fun events like working on the church parade float, Christmas caroling, or helping to lead worship.

We also participate in the Youth Gathering sponsored by the ELCA every 3 years. In 2024, the gathering was held in New Orleans. In 2027, the gathering is being planned for Minneapolis.

For more information about our Youth Group activities, please contact Jessica Blasberg at 319-231-8084.

Confirmation (7th and 8th Grade)

Seventh and eighth-grade students are encouraged to participate in Confirmation education and activities at Grace Lutheran Church. Confirmation is held on Wednesday evenings during the school year, beginning at 5:45 pm with a light supper. Our focus in Confirmation is on Bible-based learning, faith development through Luther’s Catechism, worship participation, and Christian service and fellowship.

Upon completion of Grace’s Confirmation requirements, students may confirm their faith through the Affirmation of Baptism.

For more information about participating in confirmation instruction, please contact us by email at tripolilutherans@gmail.com or call the church office at 319-882-3579.

Men’s Bible Study & Events

All men are welcome to join us every Monday night (except on holidays) at 7:30 pm for the Working Men Lifeline Bible study. The study is designed for all men, as we develop friendships and serve as a support group for each other through Bible study, Man Talk cards and service projects. Please contact Jim Rathe at jlrtreat@gmail.com or at 319-231-5749 to get information to attend the weekly Bible studies via Zoom.

Another opportunity for men’s fellowship is through Lutheran Men in Mission. A popular fall event is the one-year-to-live men’s fall retreat hosted locally at Ewalu Bible Camp near Strawberry Point, IA.

Women’s Bible Study & Projects

Women at Grace are welcome to participate in the monthly Bible studies based on the ELCA’s Gather magazine. Bible study is usually held on the second Tuesday of the month at 1:30 pm in the church fellowship hall.

The women’s group also participates in various ways of serving and supporting members of our community, including collecting items for health and school kits for Lutheran World Relief, Christmas gift boxes for our shut-ins, and sewing mission quilts for Hospice, Friends of the Family or Lutheran World Relief,

Please contact the church office at 319-882-3579 to find out more.

Bell Choir

The Grace Lutheran Bell Choir is a fellowship of dedicated ringers who rehearse Wednesday evenings and enrich Sunday worship with special music on a monthly basis.

The Bell Choir is always looking for substitute ringers to fill in as needed for rehearsals and performances. Basic music reading skills are important, but previous experience in handbell ringing is not necessary.

If you would like to be a part of this fun and vibrant music ministry, please call or text Gail Sexton at 319-231-3269.

Praise Team

The Praise Team leads worship for Grace’s contemporary service and occasionally provides special music at the traditional service. We welcome additional singers and musicians to join this group on a regular or substitute basis.

Please call the church office at 319-882-3579 or e-mail us at tripolilutherans@gmail.com if you are interested in being part of leading contemporary worship with the Praise Team.
